Give To Colombia celebrates its 2015 Colombia Gives Back
Miami, December 8th, 2015 – On Tuesday, December 8th, Give To Colombia (G2C) hosted its 2015 Colombia Gives Back Gala at the Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach Hotel in Miami. The funds raised at this 160-person gala will allow G2C to continue working towards its essential mission of increasing the flow of international donations and providing enduring, scalable and sustainable solutions to Colombia’s most vulnerable populations.
The evening began at 7:00 pm with a full service bar and welcome cocktails sponsored by Diageo, showcasing Buchanan’s whisky. The cocktail hour also included the unveiling of the organization’s silent auction project entitled “FLOW – Feel the Love Of Water,” a collection of microscopic photographs of water inspired by Masaru Emoto’s research that claimed that human consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water. As it is believed that water reacts to positive thoughts, words and feelings, various representatives of Latin talent such as Sofia Vergara, Maluma, Carlos Vives, El Pibe Valderrama, J Balvin, Fonseca, Juanes, Mariana Pajon, Mario Yepes, Radamel Falcao, among others projected their energy into bottles of water. These were sent to a laboratory where they were photographed under a microscope, to then be artistically intervened by Colombian photographer Andrés Oyuela.
Water Flow Is Here!
Give To Colombia is proud to present our first ever mobile game Water Flow! It is a fun puzzle game that engages players while raising awareness on the importance of water and the issues faced by low-income rural communities in Latin America. Water Flow was inspired by our award-winning project in Cañasgordas, Antioquia where G2C developed a sustainable model that has given 206 families clean water and basic sanitary infrastructure. Last year, the project earned the Silver Drop award by the Inter-American Development Bank and FEMSA for the Most Innovative Water & Sanitation project in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The game was developed by Good World Games, a pioneer of “Gaming for Good” which creates fun and interactive mobile games that support philanthropic causes. This allows gamers to make an impact in the real world while playing.
50% of game revenue and in-app purchases will support the initiatives that help provide even more families with clean water!

A Brighter Future with Access to Safe Water: The Guzmán’s Story
In Colombia, there are currently 3.3 million homes without running water and 4 million homes without sewarage connections. The two things are necessities for basic human life, yet many people have no access to these. But thanks to the Inter-American Development Bank and the PepsiCo Foundation, Give To Colombia and our allies have been able to provide 230 families in Cañasgordas with access to clean water and basic sanitary infrastructure.
We’re proud to share the story of the Guzmán family who can now drink clean water, brush their teeth, and do many other tasks that require potable water but are often taken for granted.
