Miami, December 8th, 2015 – On Tuesday, December 8th, Give To Colombia (G2C) hosted its 2015 Colombia Gives Back Gala at the Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach Hotel in Miami. The funds raised at this 160-person gala will allow G2C to continue working towards its essential mission of increasing the flow of international donations and providing enduring, scalable and sustainable solutions to Colombia’s most vulnerable populations.
The evening began at 7:00 pm with a full service bar and welcome cocktails sponsored by Diageo, showcasing Buchanan’s whisky. The cocktail hour also included the unveiling of the organization’s silent auction project entitled “FLOW – Feel the Love Of Water,” a collection of microscopic photographs of water inspired by Masaru Emoto’s research that claimed that human consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water. As it is believed that water reacts to positive thoughts, words and feelings, various representatives of Latin talent such as Sofia Vergara, Maluma, Carlos Vives, El Pibe Valderrama, J Balvin, Fonseca, Juanes, Mariana Pajon, Mario Yepes, Radamel Falcao, among others projected their energy into bottles of water. These were sent to a laboratory where they were photographed under a microscope, to then be artistically intervened by Colombian photographer Andrés Oyuela.
The cocktail was followed by a two-course dinner in El Dorado II, the hotel’s ballroom where the power couple and bastions of Colombian pride Monica Fonseca and Juan Pablo Raba were masters of ceremony for the gala. Very proudly, they introduced Marcos Regalado, CEO of Aidant Enterprises who gifted G2C President Angela Maria Tafur with a proclamation declaring December 8th as “Colombia Gives Back Day” on behalf of his brother Tomas Pedro Regalado, Major of the city of Miami, for G2C’s efforts in empowering communities in Colombia.
