Colegio San Joaquin II is located in the town El Hormiguero, in Valle del Cauca that is committed to providing formal education for children and teens, specially those that comes from vulnerable and low socio-economic communities. Their mission is to guarantee access, permanence, and quality education for their students using processes that strengthen academic abilities, human values, coexistence, and transformation opportunities for the community.

In the last few years, the school has carried on their mission in a complex social and economic environment. They have faced increasing costs of operations, decreasing student population, and limited economic capacity of families. Despite these hardships, they have kept their promise to prevent student dropouts, to the point of providing discounts for families.

But because of this economic support for families, along with increasing labor costs, lack of public agreements and sources of funding, loss of funding previously provided by the Secretary of Education and the national government, the school has been extremely limited in in their capacity to tend to other financial needs. In addition, they have also seen a reduction in 24% in student enrollment rates between 2023 and 2026. This directly affects their income, although their operation costs remain the same.

For this reason, they’re now seeking your support to help continue providing education for 250 students, along with 25 teachers and staff at the school.

Your contributions will help the school:

  • Provide scholarships for 14 students whose families have financial need.
  • Pay salaries for 25 teachers and administrative staff and secure their employment.
  • Cover essential operative costs such as public services.
  • Cover the most basic maintenance needs of the school.
  • Provide academic continuity for students in vulnerable conditions.
  • Help prevent children and teens from dropping out of school.
